From its humble beginnings a century ago, UK Basketball has evolved into a game
of legendary proportions defined by its heroes - the coaches, the players and
the plays of a lifetime. A rich and unparalleled heritage built by Coach Rupp
and followed by the most passionate fans in America have made Kentucky the
greatest program in collegiate basketball. The University of Kentucky Athletic
Department selected and commissioned nationally acclaimed artist Hess to
immortalize the historic 100th year of Kentucky Basketball for all Kentucky fans
to cherish. The original oil painting is the exclusive and official commission
commemorating UK's rich heritage.
Artist Hess' original oil painting enshrines Kentucky's greatest teams,
coaches and players celebrating their true excellence. The painting captures an
unparalleled collection of artifacts and memorabilia from Coach Rupp's brown
suit to the 1998 National Championship trophy, presenting a dynamic visual
history of the first 100 years of Kentucky Basketball and its illustrious
heroes.
